The Who and How of Counting and Entering “Contacts” on the Master Gardener Volunteer Log
Count and enter the total number of people you taught or advised at the event or session.
Examples:
- Classes (including teaching fellow MGs)
- Workshops
- Demonstrations
- Garden tours and field days
- Discussion groups
- One-on-one instruction that is face-to-face (e.g. at a fair, farmers market, plant clinic, Bay-Wise site visit, or other event)
- One-on-one instruction over the telephone or using electronic mail with a known client
- Talking to groups about the MG program.
What does not qualify?
- A county, state or other fair event where you are not teaching.
- A situation in which you aren’t teaching, but are only distributing materials.
- A telephone conversation that does not involve teaching (e.g., Extension business).
- A radio show appearance where audience size and demographics are unknown.
- A television show appearance where audience size and demographics are unknown.
- A planning or committee meeting.
