Maryland MG Basic Training Schedule

Master Gardener Basic Training

To become a Master Gardener, you must complete Basic Training (usually 40-50 hours). Basic training is taught by University trained professionals and is organized at the county (or Baltimore City) level. Each program is independent, covers slightly different material and varies as to cost and training dates. Here are the approximate training dates for each active Master Gardener program. You must contact the MG program you are interested in to find out the requirements and procedures for becoming a Master Gardener and taking Basic Training.

Allegany - April - May, 2010, Tues and Thurs, 6-9pm.

Anne Arundel -Tues. and Thurs. Sept.15 - Nov, 5, 2009; 9am-12 noon, Arlington Echo, Millersville.

Baltimore City Mon. and Wed., Jan. - April 2010, 6:30- 9pm, tentatively at Cylburn Arboretum

Baltimore County- Fridays, Sept. 11- Nov. 28, 2009; 9am - 3pm, Hunt Valley.

Calvert - Tuesday and Thursday evenings, March 2 -April 8, 2010. 6:15pm – 8:45 pm, Prince Frederick.

Carroll - Tuesdays & Thursdays September 7th - October 14th, 2009 7 am – 6 pm, Westminster.

Charles -Tues. & Thurs. in February, 2010; 9 am- 3 pm, La Plata

Frederick - Tues. & Thurs. Feb- April 2010 9am-12 noon, Frederick.

Another basic training course will be scheduled in Frederick for Wed. evenings and Saturdays, July-September 2010

Harford - Wednesday evenings, Sept. - mid November, 2010, 6:30-9 pm; Forest Hill.

Howard - Mon. & Wed.; Jan -March 2010; 9am- 12 noon; Ellicott City.

Garrett - Tues. and Thurs., April - May, 2010, 1-4 pm at Garrett College.

Montgomery - Tues. Wed. and Fri., late Jan - early March, 2010; 10 am-3 pm; Derwood.

Prince George's
Mon. & Wed. evenings, Sept. 9th- Nov. 11 , 2009, 6-9:30 pm, Clinton.

Next training will be Mon. & Wed. evenings, March -May, 2010, 6-9 pm, College Park.

Queen Anne's - Thursdays, Feb 5- April 16, 2010, 9am - 3 pm, Queenstown.

St Mary's -Wed. evenings beginning Jan 2010, 5:30-8:30 pm at SMC Fairgrounds.

Talbot - Sept. 15-Oct 29, 2009- Tuesday and Thursday 9am - 12 noon, Easton.

Washington - Wednesdays, Feb. 10 - April 7, 2010; 9am-3:30pm; Boonsboro.

Lower Eastern Shore -Saturdays, Sept 12- Nov. 21, 9am-12noon, Wicomico Co. Extension Office.

2010 training will be Tuesdays, 1-4pm, Sept - Nov, Worcester or Somerset County.
