Composting

Composting is a decomposition process that breaks down plant and food scraps into a dark crumbly substance that is excellent for enriching houseplants and gardens of all kinds. It's the natural way to recycle all of your kitchen and yard wastes. Composting can greatly reduce volume going to the landfill while providing many benefits for the home garden.

Backyard composting plays a crucial role in water quality, nutrient management, soil conservation and recycling. Master Gardeners play an important part in educating homeowners about compost and all of the ways and means they can use compost.
