9. Highlights from past year:

Over 50 master Gardeners turned out to take significant roles in the success of the annual fair. They staffed the MCE Master Gardener booth and  the “Ask a Master Gardener” plant clinic. They served as judges for the 4-H vegetable exhibit and helped set up and staff the horticulture exhibits

Master Gardeners again took on the responsibility for the planting and maintenance of the entrances to their county parks. Using plant material that was furnished by the county, they cleaned and planted in the spring, maintained during the summer, and strived to maintain some color and bloom until winter.

During the year 2006, Master Gardeners had significantly more impact on our county then they had in prior years. The number of volunteer hours increased by 39% and the number of people contacted increased by 132% I suspect the latter figure was influenced by better reporting, but the increase in total hours expended undoubtedly accounted for a significant portion of the increase.
