The St. Michaels Library Garden was officially named and dedicated in the fall of 2006 as “The Wilson Reading Garden at Carpenter Alley”.

9. Highlights from past year:

First MG Basic training in Talbot Co, training 20 new Master Gardeners

Talbot Ag Center projects with 2 rain gardens & 2 rain barrels through cooperation with Environmental Concern and CBT grant, native plant demonstration garden and herb gardens created and planted thanks to donations and Keep MD Green Grant

Garden Fair fundraiser for the St. Michaels library demonstration gardens raised more than $5000 for future additions and maintenance of the garden

Tick Biology and Prevention talks given to 5 groups in Talbot Co. and educational booth at Lyme Symposium at Chesapeake College (Researched and presented by Heather Buritsch) – MG’s are educated and form Talbot Tick Task Force.

MG’s taught Bay-Wise classes for continuing Ed and adult education at Chesapeake College, reaching approximately 30 people.

Master Gardeners ran daily plant clinics from March to November at the Talbot Extension office, answering more than 160 questions in 2006.
