There are several on-going Master Gardener projects in Harford county:

Larry Franz Woodland Walk at the Liriodendron Mansion

This woodland walk is located behind and down the hill from the Liriodendron Mansion. The Harford County Master Gardeners have been maintaining this walk since 1997. The walk, best visited in the springtime, is circuitous and contains different types of gardens. These include exotics, native plants and trees, ferns, a rock garden, and a blue garden. The Liriodendron Mansion is located at 502 West Gordon Street in Bel Air. Parking is available.

Bel Air Farmers' Market Information Booth

Every Saturday from April through mid-November, the Master Gardener Volunteers staff an information booth at the Harford County Farmers' Market. This market is open to the public free of charge, and local farmers bring their plants, flowers, produce, meat, eggs, cheese, ice cream, honey and baked goods for sale. The market is located in downtown Bel Air at the corner of Thomas and Bond Streets, in the courthouse parking lot. Homeowners can bring their gardening questions to the Master Gardener Volunteers' booth for answers.

Twilight Market at Rockfield Manor

This farmer's market operates on the LAST FRIDAY of each month, May through September, from 5:00PM to dusk at the Rockfield Manor (501 Churchville Road, Bel Air, MD). It is organized by the Harford County Agricultural Marketing Cooperative, Inc. and features locally grown flowers, plants, produce, meat, eggs, cheese, ice cream, honey, baked goods, and Fiore Wines for sale. Other attractions include a petting zoo, live musical performances, pit beef and pit ham prepared on-site, the Rockfield Playground, and the Rockfield Trail. Master Gardener Volunteers provide information on ecologically preferred gardening practices, and answer gardening questions.

Ask a Master Gardener

Various branches of the Harford County Public Library will have programs scheduled throughout the gardening season where Master Gardener Volunteers will provide answers to gardening questions. Check the schedules at the libraries or the library website for exact dates.
