
- Suffering from cabin fever? Join the Talbot County Master Gardeners for a series of Cabin Fever Reliever workshops at the Red Hen Coffeehouse and Cafe in Easton on the following Saturdays from 10-11AM.
- February 25 - Alice-Marie Gravely, “Living Walls-Fences, Hedgerows, Roofs and More”
Unique and lovely examples of fences and hedgerows will be shown as we explore the creative and practical uses of living walls. From outdoor garden rooms to shrub sculpture to orchards on city rooftops, this will be an unique educational and fun experience.
- March 24 - Susan Marseilles, “Developing an Eastern Shore Garden ”
Starting a new garden or want to revamp an old one? This class will help you determine what will grow best in our Eastern Shore environment. Native plant lists will be available as well as suggestions for how to work with your soil type, sun/shade ratio, and water availability, using the presenters own garden development steps.
- April 14 - Jeff Fahrman, “Understanding Your Soils”
If you have ever planted anything, you know that your plant is only as good as the soil it is planted in. This class will help you to understand soil and how to make the most of it in your gardening endeavors.
- April 28 - Richard Doughty, “Designing and Building a Water Garden”
The talk will focus on the process the presenter used over a 3 year period to design and build a water garden with a 3000 gallon concrete pond adjacent to his home. The pond was completed in 2006. The more economical installation of a pond using a flexible rubber liner will also be discussed. Presentation topics include: Benefits of a Water Garden, Picking A Suitable Location, Types of Pond Construction, Designing a Waterfall, Design & Construction of a Pond, Plant Selection for the Pond, Fish Selection for the Pond, and Pond Maintenance Tips.
